III Al-Badal, The Substitute
RULE NO.44
The duration of the stretch should be by two harakah if a
hamzah appears before a letter of madd. This madd is called al-Badal.
Example Analysis:
Example No. 823, Imana: In this word, Ya' is one of
the letters of madd because it is preceded by Hamzah maksur. It should be
stretched by two harakah.

اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ (828)
