I (a) Al-Muttasil, The Connected

RULE NO.37

The duration of the letter of madd should be stretched between four to six harakat, and is known as al-Madd al-Muttasil, The Connected Stretch, if it appears in one word after the letters of al-madd hamzah.

Example Analysis:

Example No. 769, As-Sama': Here, Alif sakin is one of the letters of madd because it is preceded by Him maftuh and the final letter of the word is hamzah. It should be stretched between four to six harakat.

Example No. 773, Mari'a: Ya' sakin is one of the letters of madd because it is preceded by Ra' maksur and the word ends with hamzah. It should be stretched between four to six harakat.

Example No. 775, Quru': Here, Waw sakin is one of the letters of madd because it is preceded by Ra' madmum and the word ends with hamzah. It should be stretched between four to six harakat.

	وَمَثَلُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي يَنْعِقُ بِمَا لَا يَسْمَعُ إِلَّا دُعَاءً وَنِدَاءً (783)
	وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ الْمُحْصَنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَأْتُوا بِأَرْبَعَةِ شُهَدَاءَ فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثَمَانِينَ جَلْدَةً (784)
